About me

I feel so lucky to have been in the profession of speech and language therapy since 1994.  I continue to love my work as much now, as I did all those years ago.  My clinical work has been exclusively with children and families, supporting all areas of speech, language and communication.  This has included working in nurseries and schools, children’s centres and clinics.  I have always taken great pride in the achievements and progress of the children I have worked with.

In addition to my clinical work, I have many years’ experience in training student speech and language therapists and I am currently the Programme Leader for the MSc Speech and Language Therapy course at the University of Lincoln.  My working week is therefore split into my time at the University (3 days) and my clinical work (2 days).

Working as a children’s speech and language therapist involves working alongside other professionals, such as teachers, doctors, paediatricians, education support services and psychologists.  Working as a team with other professionals is so important in helping children to reach their goals.

I always ensure that my clinical skills are up to date and have always been highly committed to my own professional development.  My professional values of integrity, commitment and conscientiousness have always shaped my work and I feel privileged to have worked with wonderful colleagues, students, children and families.

Away from work, I love spending time with family and friends.  I can often be found either walking the dog, or out for coffee.  I wish I could say that I enjoy running, but I try !!

I am also extremely proud to be a Trustee for the Charity that we set up in our Son’s memory and to create a meaningful legacy for him following his untimely passing, aged 21 in 2021.
