I qualified as a speech and language therapist in 1999 and have had the benefit of working with children with speech, language and communication needs ever since.

My experience of working with a range of children and their families is extensive. I have worked with children who are very young and just starting to talk, to working with secondary aged students who need help to maximise their communication skills.

I currently work part time for the NHS, which has provided me with many skills in assessment methods and treatment approaches.

My role as a speech and language therapist involves working alongside other professionals including teachers, doctors/paediatricians, education support services and psychologists. Working as a team with other professionals is so important in helping children reach their communication goals.

I ensure my clinical skills are up to date and have attended a wide range of training including makaton signing, intensive interaction and picture exchange communication system (PECS.)

I am a highly motivated, creative and approachable person. I truly value offering you a caring and conscientious service in helping your child along their communication journey.

Since qualifying as a speech and language therapist in 1999, I have enjoyed working in a variety of roles.  I have worked extensively with children and families, supporting all areas of speech, language and communication.  This has included working in nurseries and schools, children’s centres and clinics.  I have always taken great pride in the achievements and progress of the children I have worked with.

In addition to my clinical work, I have a number of years experience in training student speech and language therapists and I am currently a Senior Lecturer on the BSc (Hons) speech and language therapy course at Leeds Beckett University.

I have been fortunate to develop my practice through further study, clinical training and work with our professional body (RCSLT).  I enjoy being able to use all of these experiences to support my work with other professionals, children and their families.

My professional values of integrity, commitment and conscientiousness have always shaped my work and I feel privileged to have worked with wonderful colleagues, students and families.
